New era in the construction and real estate industry

In the construction and real estate industry, the model of a four-day-week is still considered uncharted territory. HANDLER once again demonstrates the courage of its vision and dares to take the step.

Success by being farsighted and by operating in a sustainable manner.

Why is HANDLER taking this step right now? The answer is simple: Because it is precisely in times of crisis that improvements are needed.

The implementation of a 4-day week enables sustainable acting. In addition to saving energy costs and reducing CO2 emissions, it also contributes to social sustainability. A better work-life balance not only creates more freedom for employees and their families, but also space for new ideas.

"With the introduction of the 4-day week, we are creating more room for independent and flexible working. We have chosen to always think in a future direction. To always see the positive in the new."

DI Markus Handler, CEO

High participation and satisfaction during the test phase.

Together with the University of Vienna, the employees were accompanied through a three-month test phase. In a three-phase survey, changes in workload and stress levels as well as mental and physical health were assessed. The participation of nearly 400 employees resulted in a 70% response rate, which provided meaningful results. Time pressure, unfinished tasks and exhaustion levels decreased significantly, while performance, job satisfaction and work-life balance increased markedly.

With 80% positive feedback, people were in favor of the four-day week. 10% of the employees were neutral about the test phase, and another 10% were in the negative. Critical feedback and the challenges that come with it are not swept under the rug. The feedback is being analyzed and appropriate measures are being derived for the relevant areas.

Optimized worktime model as a driver for efficiency.

A changeover always means change. Familiar processes have been reconsidered and improved. Methods such as lean management have long been standard at HANDLER and are used as a tool for process optimization. In this context, scarcity is considered a driver for efficiency.

The start is anything but timid. The project is being rolled out across the entire group. For employees and workers alike, in the office and on the construction site. Particularly important is the successful execution of projects.
