It is the showcase project in the field of large-volume timber housing in Vienna. In the "Woody-M" construction project, four components with 85 apartments and a store facility were built using hybrid construction methods. 

The residential building "Woody-M" at Tivoligasse 11 is one of the largest and most innovative solid wood construction projects in Vienna. All walls and ceilings of the apartments are made of cross laminated timber manufactured in Austria. The facade is clad with natural larch wood formwork, which comes directly from the HANDLER factory in Neutal.  As a result, the building has a pleasant living climate and thus outperforms conventional reinforced concrete and brick buildings. This is due on the one hand to the natural building material wood, but also to the breathable construction of the building envelope. HANDLER acted as general contractor on behalf of Palmers Immobilien SE.

A total of 2,300 m³ of wood from domestic forests will be used in the four structures. This is the amount that grows back in Austria in 40 minutes. This construction method saves 1,300 tons of CO² compared to conventional reinforced concrete construction, which is a saving of 75% and corresponds to 20,000 car journeys from Vienna to Innsbruck. Last but not least, the wooden construction makes the house fully recyclable at the end of its service life.

It all began with a Wilhelminian-style building in the center of Vienna's Döbling district, which at that time housed a private kindergarten and commercial premises.

After a thorough examination of the existing property, it was decided to partially demolish the building and construct a new one. The private kindergarten was relocated to alternative premises for the construction period of around two years. This replacement quarter was built by HANDLER in a modular timber construction and could be dismantled and reused after the period of use. In the course of the conversion work, part of the existing building was integrated into the new building. While only storage and technical areas are located in the basement, the kindergarten is located on the ground floor with two group rooms and an exercise room as well as all necessary ancillary rooms and access to the garden.

The “feminin” medical and health center is located on the 1st and 2nd floors. The concept of this center focuses on holistic, comprehensive medical care for women, (expectant) mothers and their children. A multi-professional, interdisciplinary team from the fields of gynecology, obstetrics and pediatrics, as well as psychology, yoga, dietology and many other areas offers competent, comprehensive care for women and children.

During the planning and execution of feminin, great importance was attached to high-quality materials and well thought-out interior design. The harmonious choice of colors and the combination of natural light and parquet flooring create a calming atmosphere that is intended to give patients a feeling of security and peace. The attic in the extension is used purely for residential purposes. The façade design was inspired by the traditional Zacherl factory at Nusswaldgasse 14 and thus pays homage to its characteristic appearance. The use of original materials, which is expressed in the form of a clinker brick façade, and the straightforward design in the central section translate historical elements into the present.

35 chalets in all-wood construction blend seamlessly into the landscape and ensure the appropriate feel-good factor for wedding guests at Hannersberg.

35 chalets made of local wood were built by HANDLER for a popular wedding location in Hannersdorf in southern Burgenland. Taking into account an ambitious schedule, the room cells were manufactured in our production plan in Neutal, fully equipped, furnished, delivered to southern Burgenland and set up on site.

Due to the stable working conditions in production, in prefabrication a very high quality can be achieved. The wooden modules could already be occupied after an exceptionally short construction period of only four months. Important preconditions were intensive planning in advance, optimization of the production process and a good cooperation with the architect and our customers.

In Niesenbergergasse 14-16 in the district of Gries, a modern residential building with 63 modernly equipped rental apartments between 27 and 64 m² has been built. The units are optimally tailored to singles, young couples and small families. The residential building in Niesenbergergasse combines all the important aspects that contribute to a high quality of life: The spacious garden area of the property offers year-round opportunities for recreation, play and exercise. Hobby gardeners have raised beds at their disposal for their own use and sufficient garden furniture offers the possibility for a garden office.

The district Gries is located in the 5th district of Graz. Gries lies southwest of the Inner City, is bordered to the east by the Mur River, to the west by the Alte Poststraße and to the north by the Annenstraße. Historic Gries was the former suburb of the Mur on the right bank of the Mur outside the city walls. The first settlements in this area were established in the Middle Ages. Today, as in the past, Griesplatz forms the center of the district on the main connection from Vienna to Trieste or Ljubljana. 

Niesenbergergasse 14-16 is located only a few minutes away from the city center. The transport connections and infrastructure offer as many possibilities as culinary and cultural life. In only three minutes on foot you can reach the Grazer Lokalbahn stop Rosseggerhaus. Also only a few minutes walk away you will find everything you need for everyday life: Grocery stores, a pharmacy, a bank branch, doctors and several restaurants.

We are currently demonstrating our expertise as a general contractor in the field of revitalization for the City of Vienna at a school in Vienna's 6th district.

As a general contractor, we are responsible for the detailed execution of the roof structures, floor structures and wall structures. For the outer shell, windows are being replaced extensively and the façade is being partially greened. In addition, the existing schoolyard will be renovated and upgraded. 

Sustainability is particularly important to the City of Vienna during the renovation: the roof of the school building was fitted with a solar roof panel as part of the general refurbishment. The innovative roof system with the integrated photovoltaic system protects the building and also produces electricity from solar energy. 

The construction project was and continues to be supported by Team.Fixe, HANDLER's lean management team. Team.Fixe stands for a regular exchange between all trades on the construction site. It reduces interfaces and ensures a better flow of communication on the construction site. 

The first of two components was completed and handed over in time for the start of school at the end of August. The second component will follow in summer 2024.
