Sustainability was an important matter of concern for the Austrian Army when developing the new crew accommodation. With this in mind, the new barracks were built using modular timber construction.
At our production site in Neutal, we manufactured 149 wooden modules for this purpose. Arranged on three storeys, the building has a usable area of approx. 3500m². The new accommodation building offers space for 240 persons, who will be housed in 4-bed and 2-bed rooms, as well as for various shared areas.
The planning phase in advance is intensive with the timber module construction method. As a result, however, the production and installation time is short. We started with the assembly of the first module at the beginning of November 2021 and the last module was delivered and mounted by February 2021.
The new headquarters is a sustainable showcase project that was built to klimaaktiv GOLD standard. The execution was realized in a collaborative partnership with Strobl Bau.
We are very happy that the Austrian Army is relying on us as a partner in implementing its greening strategy.
