The schools of Stadt Wien in Mittelgasse and Hinaysgasse as well as the Rudolf Steiner School in Endress Strasse have already been successfully renovated and remodeled by HANDLER. While classes started on time everywhere, we are currently in the middle of getting ready for the next educational project: the start of the renovation and extension of the elementary school in Molitorgasse.

HANDLER has been contracted with the extensive general refurbishment of the existing building. In addition, a courtyard extension including a gymnasium is being built. Issues such as monument conservation, tree protection, deconstruction concept and building certification are key factors in this project, making it all the more interesting.

We have already been able to demonstrate our expertise in the education sector with various school projects and are proud to have successfully completed projects and happy clients.

Volksschule Mittelgasse, 1060 Wien

HANDLER was the general contractor responsible for the revitalization and refurbishment of the school in Vienna’s 6th district, which consists of two parts. The first section was completed and handed over by the end of August 2023, followed by the second section in the summer of this year. The execution required detailed work on roof structures, floor structures and wall structures. The external shell involved extensive window replacement and the façade was partially greened. In addition, the existing schoolyard was renovated and upgraded. A integrated photovoltaic system on top of the roof protects the building and produces electricity from solar energy.

We are now again thrilled that the City of Vienna put its trust in us and entrusted us with the extension of the top floor. The project will provide additional learning spaces that optimally extend the existing building and enable sustainable use of space.

Bildungscampus Hinaysgasse, 1210 Wien

On the site of a former hospital, not far from Floridsdorf railroad station, a new educational campus was built over an area of more than 10,000 square meters. HANDLER erected several new educational buildings such as a kindergarten, an all-day elementary school, an all-day high school with a music school and a self-sufficient youth center. The project was completed in a record time of just 18 months.

Rudolf Steiner Schule, 1230 Wien

HANDLER was commissioned by the Rudolf Steiner School Association with the renovation and new construction of its educational building in the 23rd district. The historic old building was preserved and renovated, and a new timber construction was added to the educational complex. This project gave us the opportunity to apply our expertise in various areas. In addition to the master builder activities, HANDLER carried out the carpentry, roofing and plumbing work. The use of natural building materials was particularly important to the client, which is why materials such as wood, clay, hay and hemp were used. The intention was to create a chemical-free interior and replace artificial materials with natural alternatives.
