klimaaktiv-building conference and award ceremony

Climate-friendly products and services to reduce greenhouse gas emissions

“klimaaktiv” is a climate protection initiative of the Austrian Ministry for climate protection with the aim of increasing climate-friendly products and services through targeted measures in order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Regardless of the size of the building or the type of use, new construction or building renovation is a major challenge for building owners. “klimaaktiv” deals with parameters such as energy efficiency, ecological quality, comfort and quality of execution in order to set an example for climate protection.

This is what we build on: refurbishment and climate-friendly buildings for the future

This was the title of the klimaaktiv building conference held on September 19 at the MuTh on Vienna’s Augartenspitz. Among other topics, the role of EU taxonomy in the building sector and issues related to stock development were addressed. Also participating in the panel discussion were climate protection minister Leonore Gewessler and Vienna climate councillor Jürgen Czernohorszky.

Part of the event was also the awarding of prizes for Viennese renovation and new construction projects. All criteria catalogs are structured according to a 1,000-point system, on the basis of which the buildings can be evaluated and compared. The buildings are evaluated according to the klimaaktiv criteria catalog with bronze, silver and gold in three quality levels.

Two projects awarded with klimaaktiv certification

At the award ceremony we were invited to take the stage twice and receive certificates. The HANDLER Group’s development projects, Atzlergasse and Hirschstettner Strasse, were certified with klimaaktiv Bronze.
